DIY Skincare Face Scrub & Face Mask

These days everyone wants to look Glam & Glowy….Right?? But Naturally.

We spend at least 8-9 hours a day outside & this makes our skin dull and full of dirt. That is why most of us are switching from 'cosmetics to organic' when it comes to ‘Skin Care Routine’. So here I am making your work easy by sharing with 'DIY Skincare routine' & remedies for all skin types.

So let’s get started!!!!

Face Scrub for Dry Skin

It is always good to exfoliate the skin, but exfoliating dry skin leads to more dryness that is why better to use moisturizing ingredients instead of exfoliating.

What you need:

- 1 tablespoon Honey

- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil

- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar/Sugar

What to do:

- Mix honey, olive oil, brown sugar/sugar

- Mix well & then apply it on your face

- Gently scrub your face with your fingertips upwards from the chin in a circular motion for 2- 3 minutes

- Wash the skin with warm water and a few minutes later wash with cold water to close the pores

Duration: 2-3 times a week for best results

Face Scrub for Oily Skin & Acne Prone Skin

It becomes necessary for oily skin to scrub during some intervals to prevent breakouts & blemishes. But yes don’t overdo it.

What you need:

- 3 tablespoon honey

- 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder

What to do:

- Mix well and apply on your face using brush or fingertips.

- Scrub in a circular motion for 5-6 minutes.

- Wash it out with cold water.

- Apply moisturizer (Very Important)

Duration: 2 times a week

Face Scrub for Tan Removal

There are many DIY for tan removal, sharing a few of the most effective ways:

Turmeric & Gram Flour Pack

What you need:

- ½ tablespoon turmeric (Haldi)

- 1 tablespoon Gram Flour (Besan)

- 2 tablespoon Rose Water/Milk

What to do:

- Mix well and make a paste

- Scrub gently for about 5-6 mins

- Wash it out with plain water

- Apply moisturizer

Duration: 3-4 days in a week if Tan is in excess

Tomato, Curd & Lemon Scrub

What you need:

- 2 Tablespoon tomato pulp

- 1 tablespoon curd

- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

What to do:

- Make a paste of the ingredients & apply on your face

- Scrub for 4-5 mins gently

- Wash it out with plain water

Duration: 2-3 times a week

Multaani Mitti & Aloe Vera Scrub Pack

What you need:

- 2 tablespoon Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth)

- 2 tablespoon Aloe Vera (Extract or Gel)

What to do:

- Make a paste and scrub face for a few minutes

- Wash it out with plain water

Duration: 2-3 times a week

Face Scrub for Glowing Skin

It is not only us who feel low or exhausted but skin also does feel so. Guess what we do when we are tired. We need coffee to feel energized. Likewise, our skin also. Coffee makes our skin radiant & gives a glow to it

What you need:

- 2 Tablespoon Coffee

- 2 tablespoon yogurt ( for normal skin) / 2 tablespoon milk (for dry skin)

- 1 tablespoon Honey

What to do:

- Mix Coffee & Yogurt/Milk and make a paste.

- Leave the mix for 3-4 mins to get thicken.

- Add honey and mix well

- Apply on your face & massage for 5-6 mins

- Leave for 5 mins.

- Now wash it out with cold water

Duration: 2 times a week for best results

1. What is the best homemade scrub?

I have all the recipes above to make homemade scrubs & masks as per the skin type. All the scrubs are best if you are using home ingredients because they are organic and will give the best results.

2. How do you make an exfoliating scrub?

Sugar & Coffee are among the best exfoliating ingredients. Any scrubs can be made by mixing these ingredients with Milk, yogurt, rose water, honey, lemon. A most important tip, use and combine ingredients as per your skin type only. Sometimes frequent exfoliation processes can dry the skin which results in breakouts.

3. Is a sugar scrub bad for skin?

It is not bad but yes excess use of anything is not good. Because of sugar’s rough nature it can be harsh on the skin and can cause irritation & small tear if used regularly or scrubbing with a force.

4. Why scrubs are bad for skin?

Scrubs are actually not bad for skin if using it wisely. It can affect reverse with excess use. Scrubs contain small & irregular shaped particles that can damage the skin making small tears when we’ll scrub with force. But scrubbing 2-3 times a week is good; it removes the dead skin and makes skin glowy.

5. Are coffee scrubs good for your face?

Yes, it is. Applying coffee scrub for 10-15 mins & washing with cold water removes dead skin and dirt from the face which results in glowing skin. I have shared the procedure of the coffee scrub above.

6. Are there any side effects of homemade scrubs?

If you are using homemade ingredients & homemade scrubs, then there is no side effect. Unless or until you are allergic to some particular ingredients, so choose wisely. And choose scrubs based on your skin type. So better, applying a small amount of scrub on elbow before applying it on the face. This will help you to know if it suits you or not.
